The Good Stuff

We are not certified organic, but we follow the organic principles of animal husbandry and land management. We do not use any chemicals on our farm - no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides. Neither do we use any drugs or antibiotics or growth hormones. Our cattle and sheep are born and raised on our farm and are 100% grass fed, not just grass finished like many others. For those of you who may not be aware of the benefits of not feeding our beef and lambs grain, please ask us when you see us and we will be glad to explain the benefits. Or visit www.eatwild.com for an excellent explanation. Our beef and lambs are raised from birth on the farm.  We do not buy feeder animals from other sources and raise them for a few months like many others do.  Our hogs are various heritage breeds (such as Glouchester Old Spots, Berkshire, and Chester White, often crossed with Duroc) that have been selected for the proper amount of fat, resulting in tender, flavorful, and juicy pork - the way pork used to taste before taste was bred out of it in the quest for extreme leaness.  Our pigs are purchased locally as weaner pigs right after they are weaned.

Our poultry, which includes broilers (meat chickens, which are also called fryers), ducklings, and turkeys are raised outdoors on fresh pasture in portable field shelters, which are moved every day to a fresh patch of pasture. No confinement operation here! These arrive as day old chicks through the mail from a hatchery in Hubbard, OR. We process our poultry in our state licensed processing facility, so we can insure the integrity and safety of our birds from beginning to end. If at all possible, I urge everyone who has not yet visited our farm to do so, as that is the only way that you can be assured of knowing what you are getting. The proof is in the seeing.

Find out why it is important to know the source of your food, and why to eat pastured poultry here.

Our Production Models:

Salad bar Beef and Lamb: Our cattle and lambs are 100% grassfed, raised on our chemical-free pastures and moved daily to insure a supply of fresh grass.

Pastured Turkeys: Moved every few days to new pasture paddocks, turkeys can forage for up to 50% of their diet. Protected from predators by electrified netting.

Pastured Broilers and Ducks: Birds like fresh air, sunshine, bugs, and greens. Moved daily in floorless field shelters on fresh pasture, our birds ingest copious amounts of green material for good health.

Pastured Eggs: Layers roam in quarter acre fields, secured by high-tech electrified netting, and moved every 7 days to fresh pasture. Winter housing is in deep bedded hoop houses for solar warmth and comfort.

Bush Hog Pork: Pigs cultivating in frequently rotated brushy areas creates hygienic and environmentally sensitive habitats. Meat color is deep rose, indicating vitamin, mineral and oxygenation stimulated by exercise.
